Getting Started in Lori's Nightmare

Lobby picks, the eight-minute clock, first TVs, and a sane coin spend.

Getting Started

Lori’s Nightmare is a playable alpha on Roblox by acorn dreams. Open place 139360679647453, wait for a seven-player server, and expect one Nightmare versus up to six Children. The experience entered alpha in January 2025 and is still tagged alpha, so UI labels and shop rows can move. This page is the first-hour checklist. Role depth lives in how to play as Children and how to play as Nightmare.

Lobby and your first Child

Before the round locks, open the Children panel in the starting area. Free Lori is enough. Her Speedy ability grants +50% move for two seconds on a 30-second cooldown, which teaches you when to spend a burst instead of holding W into a dead end. Do not spend your first coins on a 1,000,000$ meme kit. Bacon at 10$ tracks allies for eight seconds. Spy at 50$ locates the monster for six seconds. Coby at 50$ gives a passive +10% repair. Those three purchases teach information, grouping, and TV pace. Full prices sit on the Children roster and the Children tier list.

If the lobby puts you on Nightmare, do not DC. The free Nightmare kit is Mind Trap plus Unleash Nightmare. Camping is penalized. Patrol unfinished TVs. The Nightmare guide covers trap placement and Unleash timing so you are not guessing in a Hotel corridor.

What a round actually asks of you

The clock starts near eight minutes. Restoring a TV adds about fifteen seconds. Dying without a save subtracts about ten. Children win by restoring the target TV count so an escape route opens, then walking out. The Nightmare wins by bleeding that clock, interrupting CRT minigames, and converting downs into deaths.

Movement is WASD. Ctrl puts you prone so you fit vents and low gaps. E interacts with TVs and hides you in closets. Q fires your ability. The screen goes grainy when the Nightmare is close; that is your leave-the-TV signal, not a suggestion. The full bind list is on the controls page.

Downed Children show a heart with a bleed-out timer. You can revive them. Gus later makes that revive twice as fast, but even Lori should tap a heart if the killer has rotated to another wing. After death you get a thirty-second ghost state. Use it to ping where the Nightmare walked, not to spectate in silence. If the Nightmare player leaves and nobody takes over, a bot named Roytt patrols. Treat Roytt like a slow human, not a dummy.

Your first two TVs

TVs look like 1990s CRTs. Hold E to start the restore. Click the orbs. Three missed clicks reveal your location. Combos spawn a star minigame. Streaks drop coins. Three wrongs on the later minigame temporarily lock that TV. Do not tunnel a red CRT while the grainy overlay is already on you. Drop, prone, closet, or run. The TV restore guide is the mid-round textbook; this page only needs you to finish one TV without feeding a ping.

Hotel is the map you will see most. Learn one stair, one closet cluster, and one prone gap before you worry about School, Daycare, Hospital, or Orphanage. Orphanage is the only map with secret spots and has a lobby-like room. Park those notes on the maps guide after two Hotel games.

Coins, dailies, and what not to buy

Coins come from floor pickups, TV streaks, wins, and daily quests. Typical dailies include win three rounds, kill five as Nightmare, complete ten TVs, save three allies, and play Nightmare once. AFK Void on a private server pays about one coin every thirty seconds if you want a slow background trickle. The daily quests page routes those five jobs. The coin farm tool ranks them against real matches.

A clean early shop path: Lori (free) for movement, Bacon (10$) if you keep losing teammates, Spy (50$) if you cannot tell where the killer is, Coby (50$) if your TVs are slow, Gus (100$) if you already commit to saves. Survivalist toys such as Nobita’s Worm prone speed, Pincat’s decoy, or Peri’s Great Escape come after you can finish TVs. Sentinel tools such as Pigi’s Bear Trap or Hiro’s Sword Strike are for players who already loop. Azazil at 1,000,000$ is not a beginner goal.

There are no live promo codes as of September 2026. Do not sit in the lobby punching random strings. When an event actually posts a code, redeem it with the steps on how to redeem and keep the codes hub bookmarked.

After the first escape or wipe

If you escaped, write down which TV you finished and which closet saved you. If you wiped, write down whether you died on a CRT, in a hallway, or on a revive. Those three deaths have different fixes: TV discipline, map pathing, or Support play. Then pick one follow-up page: Children play for roles, Nightmare play for killer, TV restores for the minigame, controls for binds, or maps for layouts. The Guides Hub lists them in that order.

Community Discord is reached from the Roblox game social links, summarized on the Discord page. Patch chatter and events sit under updates and events. If you later want executor notes, they live on the scripts hub, not in this beginner loop.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Children, Nightmares, codes, and maps.

Who should I pick for my first Lori's Nightmare round?

Free Lori. Her Speedy burst teaches movement. Next coins usually go to Spy, Coby, or Bacon. See the Children roster before you buy a 400$ kit.

How do I win as a Child?

Restore the target number of TVs so an escape route opens, then leave. Looping without CRT progress loses on the eight-minute clock. Full minigame steps are in how to restore TVs.

What do I press to hide or crawl?

E hides in closets and starts TV interacts. Ctrl puts you prone. Q is your ability. The controls guide lists the rest.

Are there working codes for coins?

No live promo codes as of September 2026. Use daily quests, TV streaks, and the coin farm tool. Watch the codes hub for future drops.

What happens if the Nightmare player leaves?

If nobody takes over, a bot named Roytt patrols. Keep restoring TVs. Killer-side notes are on how to play as Nightmare.

Which map will I see first?

Hotel is the most common. Learn it, then add School, Daycare, Hospital, and Orphanage from the maps guide.
