Lori's Nightmare How to Play as Children
Survivalists, Supports, and Sentinels for a seven-player alpha round.
Children in Lori’s Nightmare restore CRT televisions, keep the eight-minute clock alive, and walk an escape once the target TV count is done. You are not trying to infinite-loop a hallway. You are trying to bank fifteen-second TV bonuses, spend Q at the right time, and not donate ten seconds by dying unsaved. This page is the Children playbook. Pair it with how to restore TVs and the controls reference. First-hour lobby steps stay on Getting Started.
Servers are online and size seven: one Nightmare, up to six Children. The game is a playable alpha by acorn dreams. Kits below match the current shop rows; confirm a patch on updates if a cooldown feels wrong.
Win condition and the grainy rule
Find TVs fast. Start the orb minigame. Leave the CRT the instant your screen goes grainy. Three missed clicks already ping you; staying for a fourth greedy orb while the killer is in the room is how wipes start. Combos and coins are nice. A live Child who can start the next TV is better.
When a teammate is down, you see a heart and a bleed-out timer. Revive if the Nightmare has rotated. Do not stack three people on one heart in a dead-end closet. After a death, the thirty-second ghost state is for calling the killer’s last wing, not for flaming the person who missed an orb.
Three roles: Survivalists, Supports, Sentinels
You do not need a formal party tag. You do need a job.
Survivalists buy time with movement and tricks. Lori (free) Speedy: +50% move for 2s / 30s. Nobita (200$) Worm: +45% prone speed, passive. Peri (400$) Great Escape: invis 2s plus a speed burst / 60s. Soni (500$) Running Shoes: +0.75 move, passive. Pincat (500$) Decoy: an opposite-running clone / 60s. Dani (700$) Sneaky: invis 5s / 60s. Bani (1000$) Trampoline Feet: double jump, passive. Mori (2000$) Morph: teddy prop for 20s / 80s. Luna (3000$) Ghostify: 10s ignore doors / 80s. Flynn (3000$) Grappling Hook: tool, passive. Wiz (2500$) Home Teleport / 111s. Maou (5000$) Rebirth: self-revive / 100s. Azazil (1,000,000$) is a Sentinel-shaped joke kit, not a Survivalist lesson.
Supports make other people faster, safer, or alive. Bacon (10$) Friendly: track allies 8s / 30s. Coby (50$) Big Brain: +10% repair, passive. Gus (100$) Helping Hand: +100% revive speed, passive. Acorn (400$) Stay Together: nearby +10% speed for 3.5s / 60s. Daisy (400$) Safe Space: shield 3.5s / 60s. Maggi (700$) Cry: slow puddle / 36s. Ricci (4500$) Heart Seeker: pull a random downed Child / 99s.
Sentinels contest the killer or the objective. Spy (50$) Locate Monster: 6s / 35s. TVE (300$) Locate TV: one unfinished set / 50s. Pigi (1000$) Bear Trap: stun trap that lasts 60s / 50s cooldown. Hiro (2250$) Sword Strike: a hard stun / 24s. Azazil (1,000,000$) Armageddon: fireballs that stun / 66s.
A healthy six-stack is two people on CRTs (Coby or TVE), one Support who actually saves (Gus, Daisy, Ricci), one Sentinel who knows when not to ego-stun (Spy or Pigi), and two Survivalists who can take a chase. Solo queue: pick information (Spy) or repair (Coby) until you can loop Hotel without looking at your keyboard. Kit encyclopedia pages are the Children roster and the Children tier list.
Chase, closets, and prone
WASD through the long way only if you already know the maps. Hotel is the common spawn; learn one stair and one closet cluster there first. Ctrl through gaps the Nightmare body cannot follow as cleanly. E into a closet to break line of sight, then leave before the killer commits a camp (camping is penalized, but a free down is still a free down). Pincat’s clone should run the opposite hall, not the same door you just used. Mori’s teddy morph is for holding a corner while a teammate finishes a CRT, not for sitting in the open. Luna’s Ghostify ignores doors for ten seconds; spend it to cross a locked wing, not to emote.
If you are the chase, do not drag the Nightmare across the last unfinished TV. Drag toward a dead wing, a prone gap, or a Pigi trap. Maggi’s slow puddle belongs on a doorway the killer must take, not at your own feet on a CRT.
Repair, revive, and when to drop a save
Coby’s +10% repair is the quiet win condition. TVE’s Locate TV is the loud one: press it when the lobby is lost, not when two CRTs are already humming. Daisy’s shield covers a revive or a last orb. Gus makes the heart fast enough that a save is often correct even mid-chase. Ricci’s Heart Seeker pulls a random downed Child; it is a panic button, not a first-minute toy.
Skip a revive when the killer is still on the body, when two other Children are already walking in, or when the escape door is already open and the down is across the map. A death without a save costs about ten seconds. A triple-stack wipe on one heart can cost the round.
Buy order that does not waste a week of Void
Lori teaches burst movement. Bacon is cheap insurance if your team scatters. Spy and Coby at 50$ are the real first upgrades. Gus if you like saves. Nobita if you already live in vents. Peri, Daisy, or Acorn at 400$ once you have a role. Soni and Pincat at 500$ if chases kill you. Skip Azazil until you are buying it as a joke. AFK Void on a private server is about one coin per thirty seconds; real rounds plus dailies are faster. The coin farm tool does the math. There are no live promo codes as of September 2026; see the codes hub if that changes.
Playing against each Nightmare
Free Nightmare: Mind Trap stops Children and lasts 90s on a 60s cooldown. Pre-drop traps on common Hotel stairs. Unleash Nightmare adds speed and tracking for 12.5s / 110s; if grainy plus tracking hits, drop the CRT. Carnivore (1350$): Eat Meat on a downed body cuts timer and grants speed; do not lie on the floor next to a teammate the Carnivore can snack. Unleash Meateater is a 15s frenzy that ignores stun, so Hiro and Pigi should not ego during that window. Phantom (2500$): Sabotage TV drops nearby unfinished TV percent. If a CRT you were winning suddenly slumps, rotate instead of re-tunneling the same box. Unleash Spectre is 12.5s of speed plus ignore doors. Tarantula (5000$): Shoot Spider Web webs and stun-cocoons on a 45s cooldown; Unleash Spider (12s speed, leaves webs / 120s) turns hallways into glue. Killer-side detail is on how to play as Nightmare and the Nightmares tier list.
When the TV target is done, stop greed. Walk the escape. A last-second down still subtracts time you may not have. The Guides Hub is the index if you need the TV, map, or control pages next.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Children, Nightmares, codes, and maps.
What are the Children roles in Lori's Nightmare?
Survivalists buy chase time, Supports save and speed allies, Sentinels locate or stun. Mix them; do not six-stack decoys. See the Children roster for prices.
Who is the best Child for beginners?
Lori is free and teaches Speedy. Spy or Coby at 50$ are the first real upgrades. Rankings live on the Children tier list.
When should I leave a TV?
When the screen goes grainy, after two misses, or when a teammate is downed on your path. Minigame rules are in how to restore TVs.
Should I always revive a downed Child?
Revive if the Nightmare rotated. Skip if the killer is still on the body or the escape is already open across the map. Gus and Ricci change that math.
How do I counter Phantom sabotaging my TV?
Do not re-tunnel a slumping CRT. Rotate to another unfinished set. TVE can mark one. Killer kits are listed in how to play as Nightmare.
